The original megalithic stele of La Sitja del Llop (dated more than 2,000 years ago, probably from the Neolithic) was moved in 2010 to the outskirts of the town of Montseny, and is preserved in a display case, after being restored due to actions vandals The stele was part of one of the walls of a shepherd’s hut, the Lloses hut or Ramon’s hut, on Turó del Poniol (1279m.a.), in the middle of the Pla de la Calma . Its significance and dating are uncertain, although some authors place it towards the end of the Neolithic. In this case, it would be the witness of the first Montseny herders and the prehistoric rest located at the highest altitude of the massif. The stone of the Llop silo, which weighs around 1000 kilos, is made of the same sandy material from the area. The stele is a contemporary element in the development of megalithism in Catalonia, a unique piece. In Catalonia only one stone similar to the Sitja del Llop is known. In general, around the world, very few stelae are known from the megalithic period. Hence the archaeological importance of the piece.
